Have a question? We're here to help.
There are two things at the root of everything we do: our customers, and our planet. We believe that the companies of the future must have sustainability at the core of their business model to make a lasting impact and do right by the environment. We are not perfect, but we are working toward sustainability at every turn.
We work with our partners and design team to prioritize creating collections using sustainable materials and components. For example, our swimwear is made from a luxurious fabric that is crafted from 78% Recycled Polyamide / 22% Lycra. These fabrics are crafted from post-consumer materials and nylon waste—like old fishing nets—that are literally pulled from our oceans.
Many of our garments are made with recycled or eco-friendly materials like TENCEL™, TENCEL Modal, and Cupro. Products that are made with traditional materials have a path to sustainability through ongoing fabric development, research and development, and trials. We are constantly striving to refine processes and push ourselves to keep operations and products as eco-friendly as possible.
For all of our items, we ship in poly bags that are made from recycled materials. While regulation requires that swimwear items be packed individually, choosing alternative materials can reduce the impact. Additionally, our shipping mailer is double adhesive for multi-use, and reduces waste on returns.
Our post cards are made from recycled or FSC certified paper, whenever possible.
Recycled materials
Our swimwear is made of a compressive, luxurious fabric crafted from 78% Recycled Polyamide. These fabrics are crafted from post-consumer materials and nylon waste—like old fishing nets—that are literally pulled from our oceans.
Beach Proof Fabrics
Suits made with our signature swim fabric offer UPF 50+ protection, and they can stand up to sand, sweat, and chlorine. Live wear tests have shown that even after 100+ hours of use in chlorinated water, the fabric retains its shape and compression power. We urge you to wear sunscreen, but be aware that some sunscreen brands are known to stain swimsuits. We do suggest avoiding sunscreen with Avobenzone as this has been known to stain.
Select collections, such as maternity and COLLECTION by Summersalt, use unique materials that differ from our signature swim fabric. You can find full details for these fabrics on our product pages.
a. TENCEL™
TENCEL™ is produced by environmentally responsible processes from the sustainably sourced natural raw material wood, which grows efficiently. These fibers are certified by the European eco-label Oeko Tex 100 as containing low levels of manufacturing chemicals and byproducts.
TENCEL™ branded sustainably-produced fibers have a range of beneficial features including long-lasting softness, enhanced breathability, and biodegradability.
b. TENCEL Modal
TENCEL™ Modal is a brand of natural rayon made from Beechwood trees. During the production process, the used materials are recycled back into the manufacturing system. In use, these fibers uniquely improve comfort thanks to their natural softness.
c. Cupro
Cupro is a vegan, cruelty free, regenerated fabric that is made from recycled cotton linter, a fiber that is too small to be spun and usually thrown away during cotton production. It is touted for having hypoallergenic, anti-static, stretch-tolerant and durable qualities.
d. Cashmere and Wool
Our yarns are sourced from cruelty free wool producers and utilize Oeko-Tex certified dyes.
Products Made With Traditional Materials: We're working each and every day to create a path to sustainability through ongoing fabric development, research and development, and trials.
We took over 1.5 million body measurements from over
10,000 women to inform the Summersalt fit.
Using soft measuring tape, measure completely around the fullest part of the bust. Take a deep breath in and out to make sure the tape isn’t too tight or too loose.
Measure the narrowest part of the waist.
Measure the circumference of the hips 6" up from the crotch.
Stand with your feet together, and identify the point of your hip that is level with your crotch. Measure the circumference of this area.
